Spotter/Yard Switcher are required to perform all yard management services in accordance with the best standards of the transportation industry and in compliance with FHI policies and procedures.

This is a local position. No travel!
Job Functions:
  • Move trailers on property as directed by customer personnel or systems
  • Verify seals and perform any load status yard checks as required by facility
  • Perform trailer safety checks including, but not limited to, sliding tandem axles (if required).
  • Red Tag trailers if needed.
  • Must obey any and all applicable traffic laws while conducting its operations on behalf of the customer.
  • Will obey all facility traffic and safety rules as required by specific facilities
  • Adhere here to appropriate training records and sign off procedures as required by each facility
  • Participate in continuous improvement processes
  • Maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) schedule for equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Basic math skills
  • Steel toed safety shoes are required
  • Expected to work productively and safely
  • Combination equipment and backing experience
  • You must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening
  • Previous switching experience a plus
  • Safe driving record; No DUI, DWI, or impaired driving in the last 7 years, No more than 3 points on driving record at time of hire
  • Must possess a current driver's license
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
