High School Diploma or GED and one year external retail experience in a lead cashier
capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or WDG internal
candidates must have six months on-the-job experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid California or Nevada driver’s license or capable of
obtaining one within thirty-days (30) of employment.
Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe’s Driving Policy.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
Preference will be given to Qualified Native American Indians.
Reconciles cash to Z tape or computer report, completes all daily shift reports.
Ensures that proper documentation (sorted and in order) is attached to reports (paid out receipts, charge receipts, etc.).
Responds to customer complaints as necessary.
Tracks customer requests for new products.
Coaches, counsels and directs the activities of employees in the store on a day-to-day basis and provides on going training.
Assigns duties, assists in the completion of performance reviews of subordinates, and communicates with Store Manager on staff requests and any problem that requires attention (out of stock, equipment failure, etc.).
Operates cash registers.
Performs stocking or cleaning duties
Sets aside all work when more than two customers line up at the register in operation.
Opens additional registers when needed in order to provide fast and friendly service to the customer.
Shares in the responsibility of maintaining the store for customers.
Responsible for safeguarding the company’s assets unless physical safety is in jeopardy.
Follows company policies with regard to cash control, proper safe operation.
Follows correct vendor check-in procedures.
Completes all end of shift paperwork.
Pays immediate attention to any spill or other hazardous condition.
Reviews grocery stock so as to avoid both overstocked and out of stocked conditions.
Ensures merchandising procedures are implemented on a timely basis and displays always include proper pricing and correct signage. Merchandise should always be fronted; particular attention should be paid to the cooler doors (dairy, beer and other cold drinks).
Provides guidance and training to other Retail Clerks.
Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
Knowledge of cash register operations, sales methods and techniques.
Ability to check identification.
Ability to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers, gas consoles, and other equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carrying cases of soft drinks, beer and juice, etc. Physically capable of stocking shelves and coolers, including entering and working in cooler at temperature of 36 for up to 30 minutes.
Work is generally performed in the Retail Store. Evening, weekend and/or holiday work may be required.
Hiring preference is provided to members of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the PL101.630-Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act. Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California requires any designated candidate to complete a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, must possess a valid NV or CA. driver license within thirty (30) days of employment, (when applicable) and PL 101-630 Criminal / Character Investigation background check.
