The Role

Responsible for evaluating audience growth strategy effectiveness and identifying enhancement opportunities in support of the Consumer Marketing department’s retention and engagement goals. Establishes a deep understanding of subscribers and their lifecycle journey through both quantitative & qualitative analysis, sharing insights across the organization. Identifies key opportunities in the customer journey that increase subscriber retention & engagement while reducing churn.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitor business performance by analyzing data from Times operational systems, Marketing G2, Mather Economics and INKA – Solutions.
  • Conducts deep dive analysis into past performance results in order to map out trends and identify key response variables; leveraging these findings to optimize sales and retention activity.
  • Conduct exploratory analyses to understand trends in customer behavior.
  • Communicate to customers, both individually and broadly in a variety of formats.
  • Define and prioritize opportunities to pursue increased customer retention and audience growth.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate issues and potential obstacles that could impact effective results.
  • Develops and maintains audience retention and engagement reporting.
  • Evaluates marketing campaigns and recommends alternative strategies by analyzing cost per order, customer lifetime value and overall impact to volume and revenue.
  • Produces ad-hoc reports and analysis on short notice and helps management interpret findings.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest technologies and trends in database and newspaper marketing.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent of two to five years’ experience with process improvement, change management, market research, customer relationship management and advanced report development in a Data warehouse environment.
  • Must have strong analytical, research, problem-solving and critical analysis skills and the ability to make business recommendations based on data.
  • Must be an excellent communicator in written, oral and presentation to key stakeholders. Confident in your knowledge with the ability to explain complex concepts and trends in a variety of formats, from writing to building presentations to presenting in meetings.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate to end consumers. Write effective messaging that will reach consumers, talk with subscribers about product improvements/concerns, and communicate individually and broadly to the customer base.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be highly proactive and able to lead projects, bringing them to successful implementation and completion in a timely fashion.
  • Individual must have experience with complex databases, report generation, data hygiene and techniques in data manipulation, retrieval and organization.
  • Technical skills should include Tableau, Excel, SQL, MS Access.
