Job Description :

Community Action Region VI is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher in our 3-5 Head Start program in Jamestown. The Head Start Teacher will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate educational environment for young children by managing a preschool classroom including lesson planning, directing teacher assistants, and tracking outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with Head Start performance standards and curriculum frameworks.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of children's progress and use this information to plan and adapt instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, including regular communication about their child's progress and well-being.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and community partners to ensure the successful delivery of program services.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to children's progress, attendance, and health.
  • Create a safe and stimulating environment that promotes exploration and learning.
  • Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed, including administering medication and responding to emergencies.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff to maintain compliance with all program regulations.
  • Adhere to Community Action Code of Ethics and Confidentiality policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate, bachelors or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or an associate degree in a field related to early childhood education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Preference given to candidates with early childhood experience or knowledge of Head Start performance standards and curriculum.

This position is 40 hours per week with full benefits through the school year.
