Staff Accountant

Performs a variety of tasks related to payroll, AP, AR, and various month end tasks including journal entries and reconciliations. When not assigned to a specific job, performs various duties and special projects in the Accounting Department.

Essential Functions

• Work with projects managers on monthly billings and submit those to customers.
• Verifying that information is correct in Procontractor for all accounting modules: employees, AP, AR, Month End.
• Assist in the year end processes including W2s and 1099s.
• Assure contract compliance of project by observing the certified payroll ratios on various projects.
• Track and follow up on subcontractor’s certified payroll reports and compliance documents on a routine basis
• Performing month-end duties: JEs, Reconciliations, and other duties as needed in the department.
• Supports audit requirements including internal, external, and compliance audits.
• Assists with special projects as requested by the Accounting Manager and CFO.
• Preserves confidentiality of sensitive information.

Once trained, the growth can be in the following areas:

• Prepares, reports, and presents financial data to key employees.
• Provide key data and recommendations to management in the areas of payroll hours and cost analysis.
• Supports project managers and management as it relates to the analysis of tracking labor expenses.

Position Qualification Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting and Construction Experience preferred

• Good proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word required.
• Prior work involving finance or accounting functions in construction or business office strongly preferred.
• Prior work experience using a computerized accounting system.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with sensitive information.

Computer hardware and software, including: Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word); cost tracking software (Viewpoint, Construction Imaging); internet use and innovation. Ability to learn other software, if required, with company-provided training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
