WestCare is looking for substance abuse counselors for our program within Sheridan Correctional Center, located in Sheridan, Illinois. We are seeking candidates with certification/licensure plus individuals who are new to the field with a passion for helping others overcome their addiction and change their lifestyles. Graduates from Aurora University in Aurora, Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Governor's State University in University Park, IL are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree is preferred, high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Must obtain Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or LPC or LSW within two years of hire, if do not already have it
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system preferred
• Must possess strong computer skills
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
• Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct
• Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served
• Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from Illinois Department of Corrections

Responsibilities:

Person in this position will be responsible for the delivery of clinical substance abuse treatment to clients participating in the program.

• Complete assessment of each client
• Initiate and sustain each individual’s motivation to participate in treatment
• Develop a comprehensive service plan for each client
• Provide daily treatment and curriculum-based education groups
