Job Description :

Under the general supervision of the IT Director, the Server Administrator’s role is to design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Where applicable, the Server Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop strategies for client/server implementations; architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies

Act as project lead in designing and reviewing new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed

Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands

Conduct research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts

Check the service desk database for entries on server and server resource issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate

Manage enterprise directory services and support server infrastructure.

Recommend and execute modifications to the server environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance

Develop and maintain training materials and server documentation

Manage and provide guidance to junior members of the team

Serve as the cornerstone for escalating server issues; provide timely response to customer escalations

Create shell scripts as required

Assist in designing and implementing data center/server room security features, including HVAC control, environmental alarms, access restrictions, and so on

Maintains a high level of customer service expected of all associates, including responding to voice mails and emails within organizationally defined timeframes, completing projects as committed, and responding to others’ feedback appropriately

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs related duties as required

Requires travel between buildings; may require evenings or weekends

Available for on-call if needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

­ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related technical discipline

­ At least five years of equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing server environments

­ Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated network equipment, including SCSI, RAID, and I/O topology

­ Working technical knowledge of scripting code using Perl, CGI, C, shell, etc.

­ General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or NAS, as well as Active Directory/Global Catalogue

­ Knowledge of the following a plus:

o O365

o VMware

o Datto

SKILLSET & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

­ Expert knowledge of IT best practices, policies, and regulations

­ A clear understanding of client/server technology and network architecture

­ Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills

­ Excellent attention to detail

­ Great project management skills, including organization, planning, time management, and prioritization

­ Excellent oral, written, and customer service interpersonal skills

­ Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to pass an FBI / CJIS fingerprint and background checks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $79,859.00 - $105,452.00 per year
