Pure Biomass is seeking a talented engineer to help us design a submersible robotic system to aid in our process for large-scale algae cultivation. We are looking for a creative engineer who can design and program robotic systems and execute those designs by constructing prototypes and programming hardware. The work also requires designing a control system (such as a PLC with TCP/IP Modbus protocol) to allow for mesh networking and provide the user with an intuitive interface to control our photo-bioreactor system and the enclosed robotic harvest apparatus. Proof of concept has been attained, and we are moving towards a beta-prototype so we can enter the market.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• At least 5 years of engineering experience
• Experience with embedded system design, motor control, common serial communication interfaces, wireless communication
• Proficient with embedded programming, PCB design, Altium preferred
• Proficient in analog, low-speed digital circuit design, and cable assembly design
• Experienced in embedded C/C++ and Python
• Familiar with MODBUS communication protocol
• Experience with PLC programming for valve and equipment control (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
• Program micro-controllers and implement sensors/transducers. This could include signal conditioning amplifier design, C/C++ programming, and communication protocol implementation
• Proficient in using various capture, layout, and simulation software such as Cadence, Eagle, and Altium
• Performing both technical drawings and calculations are a must prior to building a prototype
• Creativity in drawing from multiple industries to address the needs of the reactor
• Resourcefulness to achieve the desired results at a low cost
• Friendliness to have a good time while working hard within a team atmosphere
• Flexibility of schedule and mind to follow leads while things are working, and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues when they are not
• Problem solving, goal-oriented, and self-directing attributes a must
