Job Purpose

This leader is responsible for the vision and execution of enhancements to our cohesive customer data platform and end-user data products.

This is a highly visible role that will drive the definition of business requirements, prioritize initiatives according to business needs and value, and advance data development and deployment to create large scale value for our customers.

It is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and entrepreneurial data practitioner who can manage the demands of numerous stakeholders and drive change and results. The role involves feature prioritization, opportunity scoping, strong technical chops, and rollout planning for major product updates.

Key Accountabilities

  • Learn National Grid’s Customer strategy, and study internal business processes and objectives.
  • Translate business initiatives into data product requirements with acceptance criteria. Organize into data environment and practical application backlog and roadmap.
  • Own and prioritize backlog. Align priorities to desired business outcomes, taking into consideration readiness, cost and/or savings implications, and solution longevity.
  • Drive design and development in collaboration with Customer IT, leveraging agile development approach and feedback loop. Set the quality standard for technical delivery. Push demos and retrospectives to validate progress and quality.
  • Expand and track deployment and adoption by applications and end-users. Develop and execute against adoption KPIs with business stakeholders.
  • Support defining minimum viable product (MVP) and effectively negotiate tradeoffs of conflicting priorities based on value to the business and customer.
  • Align non-functional requirements (security, performance, etc) to functional requirements to ensure end-to-end best practices are delivered in each data product.
  • Provide strategic data and execution leadership to cross-functional business and technical teams.
  • Champion and translate data platform strategy and benefits for technical and non-technical stakeholders across National Grid.
  • Serve as an authoritative source and subject matter expert of the National Grid Customer data ecosystem.
  • Stay abreast of market intelligence, technologies e.g. AMI and clean energy, and utility trends and opportunities. Synthesize learnings into the data roadmap.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business or STEM discipline
  • MS, MBA, or advanced degree a plus
  • 8+ years work experience in delivering data products
  • 3+ years of data governance experience a plus·
  • Experience working in an agile environment using scrum methodologies
  • Experience working with large-scale cloud data warehouse structures such as Azure, Snowflake
  • Experience working with master data management solutions such as Reltio, Informatica
  • Experience working with automated data catalog and quality tools
  • Ability to explore data sources and validate data outputs
  • Proficient with data querying with languages such as SQL and Python
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence or equivalent tools

More Information

Salary

$133,000 - $160,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
