We are currently seeking a Sr. Administrative Assistant to support our Health Research business. This position will be located in Columbus, OH.
Job Summary
Under minimum supervision and acting on own initiative and direction, provides complex clerical, secretarial and administrative support. Typically supports one or more managers and/or employees in a department or administrative unit, or may support multiple departments. May provide guidance or work leadership to lower level administrative employees.
Responsibilities
- Independently researches and obtains information for complex reports and special assignments.
- Analyzes complex problems, determines approach, compiles and analyzes data, and prepares reports/recommendations for action by superior.
- Contacts company personnel at all organizational levels and outside parties to gather information and prepare reports.
- May act as coordinator of departmental projects, following up on pending details, coordinating project team activities and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Work is generally of a critical or confidential nature and requires a broad knowledge of departmental and company practices, policies and programs.
- May monitor department or project budget, keeping management apprised of budgetary status.
- Makes appointments, travel arrangements, meeting arrangements and coordinates complex activities between departments and outside parties.
- Answers mail, phone calls and inquiries on own initiative, routing correspondence to the appropriate person if necessary.
- Composes, prepares, edits and proofreads letters, reports and other correspondence.
- Orders and maintains supplies and ensures office equipment is functioning.
- Typically uses software packages for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics and desktop publishing applications. Operates general office equipment such as personal computer, copier, calculator, fax or other office machines.
Key Qualifications
- High School Diploma and at least 4-6 years related administrative support experience.
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communications skills.
- Typically requires advanced word-processing and other personal computer skills – MS Office Suite.
- Extensive working knowledge of departmental and company policies, procedures and practices. Self-initiative and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work under tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Requires a working knowledge of commonly used PC applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
- Depending on area of support, may be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
