Project Manager – Commercial/ Retail Construction

Interstate Construction Management is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, hard-working Project Manager/Estimator – Commercial/ Retail Construction who is looking to grow and lead projects both in the field and in the office. An experienced professional who understands the commercial construction phases from concept, design, execution, to closeout (turnkey). A key component of this role is someone with previous commercial construction experience with an understanding/ability to manage key aspects of construction from quality, details, communication, costs, schedule and interpret the Owners expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Project Manager/Estimator – Commercial/ Retail Construction implements the overall project plan for construction propositions, delivering the projects within budget and at pre-determined cost levels. This individual will have to properly manage budgets coupled with a sense of urgency to get the project completed within the project timeframe, including proper close out. This individual will work closely with the client, providing status updates on timelines as well as budgeted costs and will be responsible to manage projects from start to close out.

• Collaborate with the project team to determine and execute the best strategies for winning new projects, whether competitive or negotiated efforts

• Manage multiple schedules and budgets simultaneously

• Work closely with project superintendent(s) to find solutions for on job site questions/issues for awarded projects, to ensure project success

• Ensure all required documentation are being completed and sent to the client timely and accurately. This includes but is not limited to purchase orders, change orders and close out documents

• Maintaining consistent, professional communication with clients and the internal team, as well as subcontractors, vendors, and materials suppliers

• Schedule job site walk-throughs with key subcontractors/vendors, and clients, as required

• Communicate with the design team and owner as necessary during the preconstruction process

• Coordinate schedule and general condition requirements with the project team.

• Participate in client presentations and preconstruction meetings as necessary

• Participate in larger, cross-functional teams within the main Company divisions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a project manager – commercial/ retail construction

• Degree in construction management, or related field experience in commercial/ retail construction and estimating

• Demonstrated knowledge of construction principles, practices & techniques and technologies

• Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license

• Ability to travel to project sites as required

• Leadership skills to communicate and influence others around you

• Strong attention to detail, ability to negotiate, excellent time management skills to ensure all established deadlines are met

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple projects at same time, in an efficient manor along with minimal supervision

• Ability to read and understand contracts, plans, schedules and specs

• Ability to understand, reconcile, review AIA requisitions, project budgets, scheduling, and estimating

• Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Project), Procore, Bluebeam and general computer/tablet skills (bonus with AutoCAD, P6, etc.)

Pay: $80,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
