Job Description :

Our busy North Shore Kauai clinic is looking for a full or part time (20-40 HPW) Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant with a minimum 1 year of medical office experience. Hale Lea Medicine and Urgent Care provides the full scope of adult, pediatric, and senior health care. The medical center provides both primary care (long term, ongoing, chronic) and urgent care (same day) services. Medical services include treatment of minor emergencies like infections, asthma, headaches, lacerations and other injuries to long term chronic diseases.

Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
  • Maintaining medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
  • Verifying patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of visit.
  • Preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests (vitals); taking blood pressure, weight, height, temperature, and oxygen levels.
  • Assisting providers with procedures, administering medications/vaccines, EKGʻs, phlebotomy, etc.
  • Securing patient information and maintaining patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
  • Counseling patients by transmitting physician’s orders and questions regarding their care.
  • Calling in prescriptions
  • Scheduling and preparing charts when needed.
  • Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with company, state, and federal regulations.
  • Keeping supplies ready by ensuring instruments are cleaned and sterilized and stocked properly.
  • Keeping equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs when necessary.
  • Keeping up-to-date by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
