POSITION: Human Resources Manager
REPORTS TO: CEO, CFO, COO and CAO
SCHEDULE: 1st Shift, Monday – Friday: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
FLSA: Non-Exempt Hourly
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, record keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry, benefits, leave, work comp, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Duties/Responsibilities :
- Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Oversee the hiring process, including reviewing applicants, conducting interviews, updating job descriptions, and determining hiring needs.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Oversees and conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations and exit interviews.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains and reports to owners: knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Keeps track of daily attendance for all employees and updates time off calendars.
- Prepare workers’ compensation paperwork and conduct thorough investigation of all reported injuries.
- Process unemployment insurance paperwork in a timely manner.
- Process time-off requests through spreadsheet including FMLA, Workers Compensation and ADA. Partner with Payroll Administrator to maintain alignment with benefit programs.
- Administer benefits plans including enrollments, terminations, and changes.
- Coordinate bi-annual retirement plan enrollment meetings.
- Maintain and update human resources documentation including employee handbooks, job descriptions, training records, performance evaluation and personnel files.
- Coordinate Safety training programs and Forklift Training.
- Oversee the I9 verifications and re-certification process.
- Prepare and report on compliance agency requests (State of MN, DEED, and Worker’s Compensation)
- Serves as office personnel as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and local laws surrounding the field of human resources.
- Complies with federal and state employment laws.
- Proficiency in computer-based office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
- Demonstrates wide-ranging interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform required record keeping.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to make good independent judgment and decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- Generally, works in an office setting but will be required to perform some job duties inside a plant environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
