SUMMARY

The Employee Relations Supervisor (ERS) is a leadership role in the direction and supervision of all Employee Relations items. The ERS supports stores with direct responsibility for facilitating, responding to and mitigating company exposure specific to HR compliance, hotline calls, Investigations, Legal Relations, SOPs, Wage and Hour, Background check practices, Leave of absence/ Reasonable Accommodation support and all other related Team member relations issues.

The Employee Relations Supervisor will be focused primarily on communicating, handling and addressing Team Member Relations issues for the company. This role will require advanced knowledge of State and Federal employment law and have an ability to act as a collaborative and consultative partner to the Field HR Generalists and operations Teams, Store Managers, Corporate and Wakefern Staff Members.

  • Lead, Investigate and Communicate on Team Member issues in partnership with HR Generalists, District Managers, Store Managers and Asset Protection (if applicable) to ensure thorough and timely investigation, response and resolution for all parties. Ensure all teams are following best practices, proper documentation procedures, submitting forth principled recommendations, and following through to resolve these matters timely.
  • Determine “root cause” analysis to recommend necessary training and or coaching opportunities that may exist.
  • Provide coaching to team members and leaders. Facilitate a strong leadership and coaching culture.
  • In conjunction with Executive Team, Human Resources Director and Corporate Counsel, review, update, and administer all Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Consult with leadership team and internal/external counsel on all workplace performance investigations, complex employee relations items or legal issues to ensure the consistent administration of all policies/procedures and business practices.
  • Consult with internal/external legal counsel to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations to include EEOC, Wage and Hour, OSHA/ Safety compliance and workplace management practices
  • Serve as the immediate contact for labor relations concerns, and provide periodic training to leaders regarding Labor Relations
  • Coordinate, assist, and respond to State, and Federal claims, legal suits, and Dept. of Labor Audits throughout the company. Address these matters with the partnership of HR leadership and Legal Department
  • Assist with addressing high-risk Team Member issues and investigations with leadership
  • Provide HR Management with Monthly Legal status updates regarding pending cases in their areas, specifically regarding legal issues, EEO claims, trends or individual Legal claims. Provide general reporting on new, in-progress, or closed ER cases.
  • Recommend and facilitate training/educational needs based upon Legal and Employee Relations trends
  • Represent/support Company at Legal meetings, Mediations where appropriate/needed
  • Manage exception HR Review Background Check process for New Hires and promotions
  • Lead company wage administration to ensure consistent application
  • Support high profile Investigations and development of HR Field Staff and Leadership development in the Employee relations Assist with addressing high-risk Team Member issues and investigations with leadership
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work independently
  • Support high profile Investigations and development of HR Field Staff development in the investigation arena through visits to all company facilities
  • Other duties as assigned

TEAM LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Has indirect supervisory responsibilities to field HR Staff in the matters of Employee Relations Investigations, Wage administration, and employee coaching/counseling.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; minimum of 3 years related Human Resource experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong working knowledge of store operations, Human Resources Policies, Practices and Procedures, Labor Law, team member Relations, Learning & Development, and change management.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

HR FUNCTIONAL SKILL

Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between HR initiatives and business strategy. Understanding of Employee Investigation best practices and current Labor Law.

BUSINESS ACUMEN

Understand the business environment and use insights about the business to improve HR strategy, activities, and delivery.

DATA & ANALYTICS SKILLS

Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to collect and analyze appropriate data, recognize trends, and develop recommendations based on data analysis.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
