Department: Clinical Research and Specialty Programs

Reports to: Director, Specialty Programs

Advanced Reconstructive Surgery Alliance (ARSA) is looking for a Director, Clinical Research Operations to join our team.

The Director will oversee and work with a team to ensure strategic growth of a large, physician-practice based research program across multiple states. The position encompasses oversight and administrative assistance for all publications generated by ARSA physicians (including literature searches, maintaining article databases, securing IRB approval, advisement on data collection and statistical analysis, and other support as needed by physicians). The position also involves oversight of a developing partnership with industry sponsors and ARSA physicians to assist with clinical trials and would require input from the Director (with a team of experts) on feasibility, start-up, budget development and negotiation, clinical research coordination and oversight, etc. The Director is responsible for developing and overseeing organizational strategy and goals, providing strategic leadership, and modeling and maintaining a high-performance culture with strong engagement with physicians, members of the Research Department, and ARSA administrative staff (operations, finance, legal, compliance, etc.)

The position reports to the Director, Specialty Programs and will involve periodic reporting on the program to the CEO and other executive leadership.

Required Education: Master’s degree or PhD, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a multifunctional team to achieve project milestones
  • Author clinical abstracts, presentations for conferences, and manuscripts when appropriate
  • Creation and maintenance of a reference library of articles relevant to clinical research in plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Participation in meetings to discuss program status with leadership team
  • Function as a leader and mentor for the clinical research team
  • Generate, submit and maintain IRB approval for study protocols
  • Communicate effectively with employees and supervisor
  • Review proposals and participate in Medical Leadership Board Research Subcommittee to provide descriptions of studies
  • Implement legal and compliance guidance for establishing and maintaining trials with industry sponsors
  • Support physicians interested in independent research in whatever way they ask
  • Attract sponsors and connect them with potential researchers
  • Oversee a high-quality research organization, organizing and motivating teams to follow good clinical practice and regulatory requirements, while providing excellent patient care and study conduct.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • General understanding of the fields of plastic and reconstructive surgeries, clinical research, and the requirements for producing sound results for clinical studies and trials
  • Ability to lead and manage clinical and administrative staff
  • Knowledge and experience with Good Clinical Practices, and Conduct of clinical research studies, including regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills
