Position Title: Dairy Department Manager

Classification Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Grocery Manager

Essential Job Duties

· Maintain Unit Price Labels (tags) for all items, doing price changes as required

· Keep shelves and displays fully stocked and faced at all times

· Follow all safety procedures relating to opening cartons, rotation of product

· Monitor grocery storage area for cleanliness, neatness and preparing for next shift; i.e. making bale, reclamation, plastic, pallets

· Assist customers with questions about products and special orders. Offer suggestions for purchase and has overall knowledge of the store

· Cleans and organizes grocery area as well as walk-in and freezer

· Report customer suggestions, comments, and complaints to department manager

· Help customers to identify items that they want to purchase and show them locations for these items. Provide product information to customers and store staff

· Assist customers as necessary with items that may be too heavy for them to carry or lift.

· Notify department manager of items out of stock or of low inventories

· Ensure all displays are fully stocked, faced, and rotated to ensure freshness, and to give the feeling of abundance

· Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the department. Keep aisles free and clear

· Ensure signage and shelf tags have accurate information and are placed with the correct product

· Monitor state of equipment & inform Dept Manager of any equipment in need of repair

· Maintain sales floor, coolers, and all department areas, in clean, neat, and orderly condition, meeting all health department standards. This includes removal of garbage, baling cardboard, mopping department, cleaning cases, etc

· Check in deliveries to verify piece count, and note any damaged product. Notify manager of any discrepancies or problems

· Handle department returns, sort by vendor in dairy walk in and additionally ensure that the package is drained of all its contents

· Adhere to all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the Grocery operation

· Observe all safety regulations when operating equipment

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred

• Have strong good communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to take and give direction, participating in a team environment.

• Have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

• In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.

• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.

• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.

• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.

• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.

• Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.

Work Hours: Availability requirements include; but are not limited to; days, evenings, weekends, & holidays.
