Job Overview

Spartan Construction Services, Inc. is seeking to fill an additional position of Project Manager. Spartan Construction Services, Inc. is a full service national Federal and Local Government general contractor specializing in commercial, industrial, civil / municipal, and institutional construction and renovation. Spartan self performs the majority of it's work, and has completed several projects ranging in size from $100,000 to $10,000,000. Spartan’s portfolio includes several medical facility ground up builds and renovations, civil utility lines, and military base installations.

Spartan self performs many of its trades including, but not limited to, excavation, municipal civil utility line work, concrete footing and foundation work, cast in place structural concrete, general carpentry, metal stud framing, drywall installation, acoustical tile ceilings, finish carpentry, civil and site concrete work.

Responsibilities for Project Manager

Construction Project Managers plan, coordinate, and oversee a wide variety of projects involving the construction or maintenance of facilities, buildings, roadways, and building systems. They oversee the construction process from conceptualization to completion. This includes oversight of construction supervisors, contractors, and various trade workers. Usually, the construction project manager must report on the progress of the project to the owner and local officials. Project Managers must have excellent planning skills and be able to effectively schedule tasks, meet deadlines, and follow a budget. They also must effectively manage contractors and vendors, monitoring quality of work performed, and ensuring tasks are completed within budgetary and time restrictions. Construction Project Managers must be able to read blueprints and schematics, building codes, and relevant laws to ensure the project is in compliance with building standards and regulations.

Qualifications for Project Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, industrial / civil engineering or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of construction and construction processes. 2-4 years of direct, int the field construction experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction / engineering / and shop drawings
  • Create / Verify / Audit take off lists for generating purchase orders with vendors and suppliers
  • Understanding and experience with scheduling software, Gantt charts, and work flows
  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience with a commercial construction general contractor performingprojects upto 10,000,000 (Federal, State, and Local Government project experience is preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Self Starter who can grind out issues on their own, yet a team player, partner, or a teacher/ coach.
  • Ownership of project performance.
  • Experience working with union trades.
  • Have a passion for construction and a desire to pursue excellence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
