Production

Department: Institutional Marketing & Comm. Job Status: 1.0 FTE
FLSA Status: Exempt (Creative Professional) Reports To: Chief Marketing & Comm Officer
Grade/Level: N/A Amount of Travel Required: 10%
Work Schedule: M-F; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Positions Supervised: None
Evening and weekend work as required; 12 months.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under administrative supervision, conceptualizes, creates, and/or produces original artwork and digital content for social media, print, email and other delivery platforms in support of marketing and communication initiatives for the College. Takes photographs at campus events to support digital and print design projects and for archive purposes. Performs essential functions personally or in conjunction with designated personnel and/or outside vendors/experts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Duties and Responsibilities):

Creates digital designs that reflect brand continuity through a wide variety of communications including print and digital marketing materials, social graphics, signage, internal communications, motion graphics, and digital graphics for a variety of internal and external audiences.

Manages, tracks, and produces print and digital projects to include defining scope with stakeholders, confirming alignment with priorities, developing concepts, creating artwork, securing approvals, delivering finished materials, and evaluating metrics.

Collaborates on concepts where copy and visuals work together to communicate while staying true to brand guidelines.

Provides photography for events, advertising, marketing materials, campus publications, and other applications, and post-production including editing and file management.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: (The minimum knowledge, skills, abilities, licenses, certifications, and behaviors necessary to perform the essential functions of the job at a fully acceptable level.)

KNOWLEDGE (Defines the mental aspects of the job. Knowledge is obtained through education, experience, training, licensure, certification, or through a combination of the aforementioned.)

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis/coursework in graphic design, print and digital production. 2 – 3 years of full-time experience in professional graphic design, print, and digital media production, including experience from concept to completion.

NOTE: Candidates must submit a portfolio demonstrating their experience in creating purposeful and compelling materials in design and print formats to be considered for the position.

Desired: 4-6 years of full-time experience in professional graphic design, print, and digital media production including environmental graphics and signage. Experience in a higher education environment and some experience with web design are a plus.

LICENSE or CERTIFICATION (To include, but not limited to: State requirements, e.g., counselor or nurse; professional certification in a specified discipline, e.g., Certified Public Accountant.)

Role Specific
To fully meet job expectations, an individual must possess or demonstrate:

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop on Mac platform; working knowledge of PC is also important.

Experience and proficiency with photo retouching, color correction and composition in Adobe;

Experience and expertise in preparing print and digital files for production; working knowledge of the printing industry and experience with pre-press functions in consideration of project budget and mailing and postal regulations.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as requested, particularly for event-based photography assignments;

Ability to draw inspiration from brand guidelines, create new and varied interpretations for design of print and digital graphics and brand-centric toolkits (such as PowerPoint templates) to enable departments to create their own materials:

Ability to stay current on evolving technology related to design, production, and photographic capabilities.
May attend trade shows, conferences, and training seminars periodically to keep current on software:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proofreading, and strong attention to detail with particular attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation;

Effective, productive, and organized communication skills and can work with a variety of on-campus clients and external vendors to produce creative materials and present creative concepts to varied audiences;

Ability to handle multiple projects with varying due dates from concept to completion, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;

Ability to work with internal clients and team members on production deadlines within project management software to document project requirements, progress, and deadlines;

Ability to collaborate with design, marketing, digital, content, editorial and media staff, carrying through institutional identity campaign and emphasizing key initiatives. Must be adept in working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The following represent the physical requirements of the essential job functions: Physical activities required are finger dexterity necessary to operate equipment used in the position, talking, seeing and hearing. Walking, sitting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and minimal unassisted lifting (up to 20 pounds) associated with the job duties is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typical office environment; some work my be performed at college functions to include outdoors.
